Christopher J. Kearns is a senior advisor and former co-head of the corporate finance practice group at BRG, a multinational strategic advisory and expert consulting firm. He is a CPA and a nationally recognized expert in corporate turnarounds and restructuring. For the past 35 years, he has been the primary financial advisor to Boards and parties in interest in numerous complex, well-known multinational matters and distressed situations, including Genesis Global, Energy Future Holdings, Lyondell Chemical, Peabody Energy, MF Global, Nortel, Gleacher, Enron, Silicon Valley Bank, Endo Pharmaceutical and Hertz.
Chris graduated with honors from Iona University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. He started his professional career as an auditor at Arthur Andersen LLP, where he met his wife, Mary Beth. After serving as a corporate officer at Bristol-Myers Squibb, he joined FTI Consulting and later was a founder and managing partner of Capstone Advisory Group, LLC. The Capstone practice joined BRG in 2015.
Chris is proud to be in his twentieth year as a member of the Friends of Mercy Hospital. He is a past president and has co-chaired the Mercy Ball and the St. Patrick’s Dinner (where he was an honoree in 2018). He has been on various Friends’ event committees over the years. Chris was a volunteer with Blood Cancer United (formerly the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) for over twenty years as a trustee at the chapter (New York City and Long Island) and national levels. He currently is a member of the Leadership Council for Tina’s Wish, which is dedicated to conducting research for the early detection of ovarian cancer. Chris is also a past recipient of the Human Relations Award from the American Jewish Committee.
Mary Beth and Chris were married in 1984. They bought their first house in Rockville Centre in 1985. They are the proud parents of four daughters: Meghan (married to Erich Stumpel), Catie (married to Austin Carter), Emily, and Bridget (engaged to Eamon Sheerin). They are the proud grandparents of Christopher, Robert, Grace and Eoghan as well as their Golden Retrievers, Jessie and Wendy.
