As we gather this evening to celebrate the 79th Annual Mercy Ball, Gloria and I wish to extend our welcome to all our Mercy and CHS families whose involvement contributed in various ways to making this evenings Ball a great success. We have so much to be proud of and thankful for at Mercy. The hospital exists today in part because of the dedication and fundraising efforts of The Friends of Mercy. Their committed resources have raised millions of dollars for our hospital. Their catholic values along with our excellent administration, doctors, nurses and staff foster medical excellence. Their leadership, teachings and sacrifice has continued for over 102 years.
The ideals and aspirations of The Friends of Mercy are clearly embodied in each of our Honorees: Andrew E. Healey, recipient of the Theodore Roosevelt Award for Outstanding Service; Jeanne Colamussi, RN, recipient of the Sister Mary Nadine Casey, CIJ Award; and Rabbi Barry Dov Schwartz, recipient of the Bishop John R. McGann Lifetime Achievement Award. Their support and dedication to Mercy Medical Center is truly outstanding.
We would like to thank the committee for all their efforts, and especially our sponsors and underwriters. Thank you to the volunteers who are helping at the Ball for their tremendous time and effort. As always, great leadership starts at the top with the President of The Friends, John J. Joyce. We are all grateful for his time, talent, and involvement with the Friends.
This year all proceeds will help The Friends of Mercy reach their fund-raising goal to support the brand new Mercy Medical Center Sleep Center. We are truly appreciative of your dedication to Mercy.
As we kick off the Holiday Season, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and a Happy and Healthy New Year to all.
